Liner
Unless you’re specifically going for a ‘90s look (which we don’t really recommend), lip liner should be applied as close to the colour of your lipstick as possible. Start at the top middle part of your lips (that’s the cupid’s bow) and draw a small ‘v’ shape to give your top lip some definition. Then, line the bottom middle part of your lips. Using small lines, join up the top middle part of the lip to the outer corners, and then repeat on the bottom lip. You may need to go over the line a few times to get it right, especially when wearing red. To make your lip colour last all day, colour your lips with the same pencil before you apply lipstick or gloss.

Lipstick/Gloss
To make sure you don’t end up with clown lips (that wouldn’t be too funny!), apply lipstick with a lip brush to stay within your lip line. Cover your lips entirely, then gently press them together to distribute the colour evenly. If you just rub your lips together you’ll most likely end up with lipstick outside your lip line as they probably aren’t the same shape on the top and the bottom. To get the most stick from your lipstick, blot with a tissue and reapply for long-lasting power. You can apply a gloss over the top or use a gloss on its own – just remember that gloss generally doesn’t last as long as lipstick.
